I offer two types of sports sessions, Game Day and Sports Portraits/Media Day.
A Game Day Sports Session provides you with a gallery of stunning, authentic action photographs that truly capture the unique personality of each athlete and the atmosphere of a game. Sports Portraits/Media Day images are posed and staged sports sessions that can be used for banners, trading cards, yearbook photos, and as an add-on to senior portraits.
Game Day Sessions
Most Game Day Sports Sessions are private or team sessions and booked well in advance, but occasionally I’ll have free time at a tournament or between games. If you see me out and would like photos, come chat with me! Tournament spots are first come, first serve, and a little cheaper than private sessions.
If you ask any sports photographer which sports are the most difficult to capture, they will always answer with volleyball and basketball, but they are my specialties. I love the challenge and emotion of indoor sports! You can see examples of my work in my portfolio.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is included in a Game Day Sports Session?
A Game Day Sports Session includes single game coverage and a gallery of 30+ high quality, action digital images with copyright release. Gallery size is largely dependent upon play time, but the average gallery includes 70-100 images.
What can I expect from a Game Day Sports Session?
A few days before the game, I will speak with the player or parent to get an idea of their style of play, position, and important plays, people, and events they would like captured. On game day, I will arrive early to check permissions, scout the best shooting spots, meet with the parent, refs, and/or athlete, and take some warmup and pre-game shots.
If you have elected Senior Night Coverage, we’ll work to get a plan in place beforehand so that you can enjoy your evening without the worry of wrangling family and friends and setting up posed pics.
After your session, you will receive a sneak peek within 48 hours and a link to the full gallery within 7 days.
When should I book a Game Day Sports Session?
This will vary by experience, sport, and age range. I recommend booking for mid-late season for most sports. The athlete will be be more comfortable on the court, the games are more competitive, and they will have a better idea of their play time and positioning.
That doesn’t mean we can’t make a fantastic gallery from early season games! Early season games are a better pick for experienced athletes, rematches and special games, and for athletes that are worried about mid-season injuries.
How many sessions do parents typically book?
Some parents/teams book every sport and every season so that they can watch their child’s growth. Others will book a child’s first season and final seasons, and others will book one high school season or important game.
I recommend booking two sessions per season. This allows me to spend one game focused on action shots and learning their play style and personality. By the second game, I will be familiar with the player and team and can capture more images that showcase their personality and have additional chances to capture action that may not have occurred during the first game.
I saw you at a game, do you have pics of my player?
If you’ve seen me at a game, I may have some! Send me a message with your player’s team, number, position, and game date and I will take a look.
If you could only select one game to photograph, what would it be?
If I were only booking one session for my children, I would pick a competitive game during Junior year. By 11th grade, most are very comfortable with the game, receiving a good amount of playtime, and are very competitive. A Junior year session also ensures that you have a series of images captured in case there are unexpected obstacles that prevent your athlete from playing during their Senior year.
Do I need special permission from the school for you to photograph?
Yes. You will need to get permission from your coach or athletic/tournament director before booking a session.
Are all Game Day sessions limited to 3 players per game?
This varies slightly by sport and age range. For high impact, fast paced sports such as varsity, club, and college volleyball, basketball, or football, I recommend no more than 3 players per game (unless booking a team). When booking a one-three player session, I am focused on these athletes and the ball for the entire game. This ensures that you receive a larger gallery of high quality action photos.
Track, swimming, wrestling, and power lifting are best booked as a one to three player package. These events often overlap, making it difficult to guarantee coverage for additional athletes. If scheduling is available in advance, this can be adjusted.
Baseball, softball, and cross country provide a longer game time and have more opportunities to capture single players. When booking these sports, additional players can be added at $75 each per game.
Do you offer team coverage?
Team coverage is available for many sports, with packages starting at $500 per team. To book team coverage, the fee will be divided and collected at the discretion of the coordinating player, parent, or coach. All team members will receive access to a gallery with all digital images and a photo release.
What is the difference between team coverage and individual?
When booking team coverage, not all athletes will receive an equal number of images. I will be focused on the ball and action shots, so some players will naturally receive more images than others. To book team coverage, the fee will be divided and collected at the discretion of the coordinating player, parent, or coach. All team members will receive access to all digital images and a photo release.
What is Senior Night Coverage?
Senior night coverage is an upgrade from a typical sports session and is limited to one family per game. In addition to the action coverage, I will photograph the senior festivities and candids with the family after the game. Senior night sessions are fantastic way to commemorate the end of your high school or college sports career and provide images that will be treasured for a lifetime.
Are company sponsorships available?
Absolutely! Many companies and school organizations choose to sponsor team coverage for a local game. Your company name will be added to all social media posts, the gallery, and can be added to each photograph if desired.
I’m a tournament or facilities director, do you offer event packages?
Yes! Send me an email with your tournament dates, location, and size, and I’ll put together a custom quote.
